The vast majority of us spend our time in a day-to-day basis, searching to do the same each day: our routine. Waking up, bathing, dressing up, eating, the daily commute to our activity, we do what we have to do, a pause for eating once again, we keep doing our activity until the end of the schedule, go back home, bathe, eat and go to bed, some go for a drink after their shift ends, a few like working out, others spend time with their kids or their couple, but everything under a same daily program and in the weekends perhaps something different may happen, although mostly one of the usual options: celebration (wedding, birthday party), visiting the outdoors, shopping mall or family visit, singles may add their night time activity of preference.
We spend our time like mad men chasing what we want to get, be it material or sex related, we allow ourselves to be ruled by emotions that arrive as reactions to a moment or by recurrent thoughts that sometimes do not have anything to do with the place or moment we are living. The question is: how much time are we really conscious?
How many times do we stop to breathe, contemplate where we are, see what's happening around us, contemplate what life is displaying in front of us, see the beauty of your partner or the smile of the child cleaning your car's windshield? rarely. We are revving at 18 thousand revolutions, storming like a race car through life, most trying to have money and status, some to be recognized, accepted, others respected and some even feared. We place on a different plane everything and become enslaved of an endless fight for survival and of getting everything that's supposed to give happiness, but at the end of the line make us feel empty once we get it... And our children are strangers, our spouse is by our side out of habit and our dreams are somewhere in the mental bin for old and unused stuff, and we don't know who's the person staring in the mirror, we have sacrificed so much that we think we are the watch we are wearing, the fine suit or the luxury car we are driving... these are things, inanimate objects, made by human beings just like you and me. We are not these things, we are our thoughts, our feelings, our actions and who we decide to be.
We must redefine what is actually important, our values, what is it that deserves to receive our time, our life, our thoughts, emotions and effort. We have to revisit our inner youth, see our dreams, our aspirations and give life to life, love to our loved ones and put a smile in our face, even when we are facing that difficult boss or client, and greet him/her and everyone else in a nice manner, to channel that positive attitude to everyone! And every day set ourselves new projects and goals!
Well, life is extraordinary, if we decide to make it that way, if we take control, know, in this moment, get up, stop reading this and look for a way to leave your personal prison and make your life and the world better!
